Cool off with those drinks

By

Who complained about rain? Well, now you have it.

Summer is finally here in full swing and it is hot, humid and muggy in New York City.

Cool off, rejuvenate and replenish with those three refreshing drinks for the office, at home or on your patio.

Here are your three options:

Cold spice drink

Ingredients:
5 slices of fresh ginger
Juice from one lemon
1 whole cinnamon stick

How to:
Heat an entire glass tea pot with water and let it simmer with the fresh ginger slices and the cinnamon stick. Do this when you have time, such as just before you go to bed, so that the flavor can evolve overnight. Before serving, add the juice from one fresh lemon. This drink is not only refreshing, it keeps your insulin levels in balance because of the cinnamon.

Added bonus: it does not contain any added sweeteners.

Dill yogurt drink

8 ounces of 2% Greek yogurt
3 cups Water

How to:
Chop the dill.  Combine dill, yogurt and water in a blender.  Process all the ingredients till smooth. Best served with a few ice cubes.

Cucumber chill drink

Ingredients
1 cucumber
1 lemon
1 pitcher of water

How to:
Peel the cucumber and chop into thick slides ¼ inch thick. Squeeze the juice of one lemon into the pitcher of water, Stir in cucumber. Let stand in the fridge for one hour before serving.

Enjoy.
