Why Diet Soda Makes You Fat

By

sodaWhich is it, damn it?!

Diet soda is poisonous for your body.

Actually, diet soda can help you lose weight, since it has fewer calories.

Conflicting information like this is certainly not going to help you make informed food decisions. But aren’t so-called “diet” foods supposes to cut down your calories and help you lose weight?

Now studies are confirming that diet drinks can make you fat. Dr. Helen Hazuda, a professor of medicine at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, stated “diet soda might be free of calories but not free of consequences.”

The fact is that calories make you either gain weight or lose weight. Take a closer look and you will discover that this is not just so, because a calorie is not a calorie in all cases. The recent study found that diet soda drinkers’ waists grew 70 percent more than non-drinkers .

Beyond calories for weight loss

Diet Coke (caffeine free) has only 4 calories. Less then an apple or a chocolate bar, right? And following that logic, if you drank 5 cans, which would be only 20 calories, you wouldn’t gain weight. However, you need to consider other ingredients that may affect your hunger, mood and calorie intake.

Here are the ingredients for Diet Coke™:

Carbonated Water
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Caramel Color
Phosphoric Acid
Natural Flavors
Caffeine
Aspartame (NutraSweet)
Potassium Benzoate
Citric acid

Effects of Aspartame:

A neurotoxin. At one point, the research data from the FDA confirmed that it was not harmful. Then, reports emerged claiming that Aspartame causes major health issues. The TV show, 60 Minutes reported on the safety of Aspartame. Watch for yourself and click below:

The fact is that Aspartame is a neurotoxin and if you have seen a video what Aspartame does to a spindle fiber (part of your nerve), you will be converted for the better.

Increased hunger: A study done with 14 dieters comparing the effects of aspartame-sweetened and sucrose-sweetened soft drinks on food intake and appetite ratings found that substituting diet drinks for sucrose-sweetened ones did not reduce total calorie intake and may even have resulted in a higher intake on subsequent days.

Depression: In a study of the effect of aspartame on 40 patients with depression, the study was cut short due to the severity of reactions within the first 13 patients tested. The preliminary results showed that individuals with mood disorders were particularly sensitive to aspartame; researchers recommended that it be avoided by them.

Headaches:
One study confirmed that individuals with self-reported headaches after the ingestion of aspartame were indeed susceptible to headaches due to aspartame. Three randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled studies with more than 200 adult migraine sufferers showed that headaches were more frequent and more severe in the aspartame group.

Effects of Phosphoric Acid:

Phosphoric acid can be used as a “rust converter.” Apply this ingredient directly to a rusted iron and rust will be gone. It can be also bought as “rust remover” or “rust killer.”

In epidemiological studies, phosphoric acid was linked to lower bone density . This study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. If you are a woman who is going through menopause, bone health will be your concern. Osteoporosis can have many causes. If you are diagnosed with osteoporosis, diet soda might be another ingredient that you need address if you are consuming diet soda regularly.

Effects of High Fructose Corn Syrup:

Like white sugar, High Fructose Corn syrup raises your insulin levels. Studies have confirmed that there is no significant difference in the effect of white sugar vs. High Fructose Corn syrup. But there is a significant difference if you compare the effects of real fruit and the effects of these processed sugars on insulin levels.

Real fruit has fiber (soluble and insoluble), which helps to keep your blood sugar in check by releasing energy slowly. Your body digests table sugar very rapidly and both High Fructose Corn Syrup and white sugar enter the bloodstream as glucose and fructose almost identically.

White sugar as well as High fructose Corn Syrup has empty calories. It does not provide your body with any minerals, vitamins or enzymes. All three of these are vital for a optimum healthy body and metabolism.

My message is always clear and straightforward: Eat as close as possible to the earth.

That means DON’T EAT food that doesn’t grow on the field, can’t be picked from a bush or tree or can be hunted.

Diet sodas can’t be picked from the bushes or the trees. It is a man-made product. For natural weight loss, you don’t need artificial chemistry but rather nutrients that can be utilized and identified by the body on a cellular level.

Stay focused.
