Try My Yummy Dessert Recipe (You won’t believe it’s low fat!!!)
By Stefan AschanJanuary has come and gone.
I know that since then, you’ve eaten healthy foods. No desserts. No sodas.
Maybe you survived Valentine’s Day. But now you can’t walk by a chocolate or sweet shop without being drawn to it like metal to a magnet. You know you want it, but you know you shouldn’t.
Been there?
To the rescue: a low-fat dessert recipe for you to indulge in and still keep you on your weight loss wagon.
Viennese Apple Strudel
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Here is why:
Apples are high in fiber and have small amounts of the trace minerals that help keep your immune system strong. Fiber keeps your blood sugar and insulin levels in check. Yes, you know already when your blood sugar crashes: you become an eating machine and consume everything around you.
Fiber helps you feel satisfied, and it’s a satisfaction you don’t get from processed snack bars. Fiber collects and holds bile. Yes, something has to take the garbage out of your body, and that’s fiber’s job. And no, don’t put a dollop of whipped cream on the strudel; stay away from it.
Assemble these ingredients:
5 apples
2 lemons, fresh-squeezed juice
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cup raisins
2 cups toasted bread crumbs (optional)
1 roll organic whole-wheat phyllo dough
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
Here are your steps:
Wash the apples and grate them in a large bowl.
Toast the breadcrumbs in little olive oil until they are dark brown, and add the lemon juice, cinnamon, raisins, and toasted breadcrumbs to the grated apples. Mix them all together. Then prepare the phyllo dough on a kitchen towel. Place the apple filling in a thick strip on one end of the phyllo dough. Roll the dough and ingredients together, starting from the filling to the other end, and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.
Bake it for 45 minutes to 1 hour in a preheated 350°F oven, until the top is golden brown.
Remember, you have set your goal. Now, do anything possible to get there.
If you’re tempted to eat something, read the ingredients! Make sure you can find a healthy reason to take in each ingredient into your body.
If you can’t, don’t eat it.
Be serious about what you do today to reach your goal.
Start taking responsible actions and explore what possibilities you have.
Stay focused,
Stefan
